Official Winter Olympics thread
Sat at home watching the opening ceremony......beats working

So.....what are you looking forward to over the next 2 weeks
Prancing on ice?
Sliding lumps of granite?
Falling down a snowy hill?

I shouldn't mock..... usually quite enjoy it

Talking about lifting the Russian ban if there aren’t any more drug offences. Apart from all the new ones.
They are banned for doping yet this Athletes from Russia team has had still more offences during these games.
Laughable

Nah, for a bunch of reasons. I get up early but not that early and didn't care much in the first place (as per below), being a couple.

But sounds like a great game, nothing like sudden death.

Good luck to the Germans, first time and all that and I grew up with the Soviets as the actual evil empire of hockey: old habits die hard.

I guess I should have added "The Olympic tournament is..." at the beginning.

But its not the best, its is professionals from lesser leagues, a lot of whom are past whatever NHL career they had, hence my Dad's Army comment.

They aren't amateurs, mate.

Supposed to be the best in the world, if that was the case then I would care more about the national team than the Oilers. Even as fragile as McDavid has been.

1-0 up, 1 minute to play so do you defend what you have or stick another centre forward on?

She did an “ Antonio “, she only had to keep it safe and the win was hers.

Re: Official Winter Olympics thread
Who cares? Let the amateurs play. This is a refreshing break from the NHL, and anyway I wouldn't want any of my team's players injured playing for Canada (or any other country).

I would probably care if we didn't have to send a "Dad's Army" version of a team.

The German government issued a travel warning to Germans in Canada, urging them to "hug a Canadian"

Top trolling.

I love it that they are the Scots when they lose.

It is what I do with the Quebecois. Or certain Jamaican drug cheats.

Re: Official Winter Olympics thread
The coverage of it stinks though. Round robin etc. You plan like 10 games if you get to the final. Of course have/had two teams from GB. So the BBC are milking it but too much IMO. Love a bit of Eve muirhead. Steve cram doing it does my swede in. He knows his stuff though. I've loved some of the cross country stuff. Proper athletes who don't require gravity
